Alan Cook - Spinal Peer Support

Alan Cook

I've been a wheelchair user since sustaining a spinal injury eight years ago. A civil engineer prior to injury, I've worked and volunteered for spinal injury and disability charities ever since.

One of the most significant effects of spinal cord injury is the impact it can have on the bladder and bowel. As a keen sportsman, a huge challenge I faced after my injury was learning how to adapt my bladder and bowel management to fit in with my sports and lifestyle.

A vast range of continence products are available today, with new devices and techniques developed regularly. There's often a solution available that many users might never have heard of, or simply didn't think could be combined with another device. Part of my role involves keeping up to date with all these products so that I can provide the best possible impartial advice to patients and healthcare professionals.

I'm always available to visit any hospital or rehab centre. I can offer direct support to spinal injury patients and healthcare professionals or you can easily contact me by phone or email.
